I want to personally invite you to be a part of our weekly services here at Blake Road Baptist Church. A huge part of our ministry is provided through our Sunday morning Bible Studies. Some times we call this Sunday School-but it is so much more! The aim of our Bible Study program is to reach people for Jesus Christ, teach people the truth of God’s Word and minister to people's needs. All of our Bible Study teachers and assistants have received extensive training and attend monthly training sessions to remain current. Also, all of our teachers have undergone an extensive background check and have been cleared to work with children and adults. Our Bible studies are arranged by age so each person, from the smallest bed babies to the most senior adults will be taught at the appropriate levels and using methods that attract and hold the student’s interest. This brochure will provide you with a brief overview of each class, its teachers and curriculum. | YOUTH 1
Youth from 9th-12th grade are welcome in our Youth Bible Study. It is taught by Mark and Vonna West. Both Mark and Vonna have been members of BRBC for 20+ years. They have been teaching the Youth Class for many years. As parents of two teenagers (one boy and one girl) they are uniquely suited to teach our youth. The current study is Life Focus which takes the student through the fundamentals of the Christian faith and challenges them to live Christ-centered lives. YOUTH 2 Youth from 7th-8th grade are welcome in our Youth Bible Study. It is taught by Rick and Janell Glenn. Both Rick and Janell love to teach God’s Word and are very active here at BRBC. They are highly motivated, getting the youth involved into Missions, “Christian camps, Christian concerts. Come visit and see what all the fun is all about. CHILDREN 2 Children in grades 4th-6th are welcome in our Children 2 Bible Study. Taught by BJ West and Sondra Markham, Children 2 is a dynamic class which incorporates various activities to reinforce Biblical truth. Both BJ and Sondra are long-time members and Bible Study leaders and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Children 2 class. BJ wears many hats here at BRBC and can always be counted on no matter the task. Sondra has a deep love for Jesus Christ that is evident in her effort to reach, teach and minister to boys and girls. Boys and girls learn how to pray, how to study the Bible, how to worship and many other important things that help them to know and grow in the Lord. CHILDREN 1 Children in grades 1st-3rd are welcome in our children 1 class. Taught by Gary and Reinette Sinacori, Children 1 is designed to help younger children read and find Scripture, learn about missions, prayer and worship. Gary and Reinette are committed to following Jesus Christ with all their heart, mind and spirit. |
| PRESCHOOL 3
Children ages 4-5 are welcome in our Preschool 3 class. Taught by Yarelli Mitchell and JoAnn Miller this class is geared toward teaching preschoolers the fundamentals of Christianity in a way they can understand. A typical Preschool 3 class includes music, singing, maybe dancing, painting and Bible stories and many other activities. Yarelli is one of BRBC’S “success” stories in that she came to Christ in this church and has grown over the years to be an irreplaceable anchor in most of our ministries. Yarelli is bilingual; speaking both English and Spanish. JoAnn is a long time member, teacher and pillar of BRBC. She can do anything and her love for the Lord is evident in how she reaches, teaches and ministers to our children. PRESCHOOL 2 All Children ages 2-3 are welcome in the Preschool 2 class. Taught by Linda Jones, this class gets very exciting! You will find students finger painting, doing skits, listening to Bible stories, and sometimes eating snacks! It is amazing how much these 2-3 year olds are capable of learning and what better thing for them to learn than about Jesus? Linda is loving, kind and patient who enjoys teaching this class. ADULT BIBLE STUDIES We also offer Bible Study for adults on Sundays 9:30 am-10:40 am. The adult teachers receive the same training as the children's teachers. The Lord has commanded the church to teach His ways and this includes adults as well as children. Therefore, it is our desire that all adults learn and practice worshipping, following and living through Jesus Christ. The following is an overview of our adult Bible Study classes. SENIOR ADULT MEN There is no age requirement to be in the Senior Adult men, however men 55+ will find other men their age to fellowship and learn with. Ron West facilitates the Senior Adult Men’s Class. Ron is a wonderful teacher, deacon and all around “Jack-of-all-trades”. Ron presents an in depth Bible study each week that challenges our men to live for Jesus Christ. Ron’s many years of evangelistic outreach and passion for lost souls is contagious as he reaches, teaches and ministers to others for Christ. |
| SENIOR ADULT WOMEN
This class is truly the backbone of our church. These women are the prayer warriors and “senior saints’ who inspire and challenge us all to be disciples of Jesus Christ. While there is no age requirement to be included in the Senior Adult Women’s class, women age 55+ will find other women their age to fellowship with and learn from God’s Word alongside. This class is taught by Verna Winter, who is a long time church member and teacher. Verna’s love of Christ is evident in her devotion, personality and the care she shows to all her “ladies”. Verna’s humility shows when she says, “I learn more from my students than I teach them”. Come be a part of this wonderful group. MEDIAN ADULT CLASS This is an open class to all adults and is co-ed. This class is taught by Mr. Dean Skalbeck who is talented and dedicated teacher and servant of the Lord. Dean teaches in an open, relaxed atmosphere. Students in this class read and study Scripture and have discussions about how to live biblical truth in their lives, their families, and the workplace and in the community. Dean has led this class to examine spiritual revival, personal holiness and parenting, just to name a few of the topics you can expect to cover if you attend this class. In this class, Bro Tom teaches Baptist distinctives using the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 which is a summary of Biblical truth. |
