So I haven't blogged in six months. I have no good excuse other than there was very little feedback in the comment section, so I figured there were better uses of my time than sitting around trying to write profound insights if no one was reading them. I've since been asked to begin blogging again. I am happy to do so but ask that if you read this blog please give some feedback or share your thoughts-OK. Thanks.
I get asked a lot, "Who are you going to vote for for President?" If you are one of the ones who have asked you know that I haven't given you a direct answer. There is a reason for this. I was raised in a society that considered it impolite to ask or answer that question. In the South (at least in KY) it was considered ungentmanlike to announce whom you had voted for or were going to vote for concerning any office, be it state, local or national. So that's why I don't answer or am elusive and vague.
I do want to remind all Christians that is is important to vote and you should make an informed decision and vote your conscience. I also must remind you that we are to obey and if not respect, at least speak well of our elected officials. We should also pray for them knowing that whether they are good or evil God has placed them in thier positions according to His sovereign purposes. (CF Romans 13 and Daniel 4)
I know there is a lot of talk about the state of our country right now. One has to admit it doesn't look good, however as long as there is a God in heaven (and He is eternal) then there is hope. And as long as there are Christians in the land there are "evangelists' of hope". Though we know that Jesus Christ is the One and Only Hope for the souls of mankind, we do need to do our part as good citizens. Now more than ever, Christian Americans need to display the characteristics and perform the duties that God has commanded of us. Our character counts much, much more than what we can do. So, I leave you with a quote from the best president ever, (at least in my opinion)
In the last analysis a healthy state can exist only when the men and women who make it up lead clean, vigourous, healthy lives; when children are so trained that they shall endeavor, not to shirk difficulties, but to oversome them; not to seek ease, but to know how to wrest triumph from toil and risk. The man must be glad to do a man's work, to dare and endure and to labor; and to keep himself and those dependent on him.
