I.  The Arrival.  Verses 31-33
And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he who sat upon it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war.  And His eyes are a flame of fire, and upon His head are many diadems; and He has a name written upon Him which no one knows except Himself.  And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called the Word of God.  And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.  And from His mouth comes a sharp sword so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.  And on His robe and on His thigh He has written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”  Revelation 19. 11-16

The Lord Jesus Christ will return to the earth!  At that time He will rule and reign (along with the saints and angels) from His throne in Jerusalem.  It will be a perfect kingdom of peace, righteousness, and love.  The Lord will renew the earth reversing much of the devastation that occurred during the Tribulation. Satan and his angels will be bound and their evil influence removed from the earth for 1,000 years.

II. The Adjudication.  Verses 34-46
a.  The Righteous.  (34-40)
The Tribulation saints that survive the various persecutions and holocausts will be allowed to enter into the kingdom.  Though they were saved by grace and grace alone, their acts of simple kindness, especially toward fellow believers will give evidence of their salvation.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  I Peter 1. 3-5

b. The Wicked.  (41-46)
Christ will immediately judge unbelievers living at the time of His Second coming.  There will be no second chance, the days of mercy and grace will be terminated and the unsaved will be sent to torment with the devil and his angels.  This judgment will not be based on their works but on their lack of faith in Jesus Christ.  However, the evidence of their being lost will be the lack of mercy and compassion shown to God’s people.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,” Romans 1.18
